Recent RotoWire Articles Featuring Matt Roy See More
With the Stanley Cup Playoffs set to get underway, Kyle Riley lays out his NHL player rankings for fantasy hockey playoff pools featuring his breakdowns and tiers for each position.
This week's group of suggested pickups includes Boston's Jake DeBrusk, who's on fire right now and has a great lineup spot.
Latest Fantasy Rumors
Deal not forthcoming
Roy and the Kings haven't closed the door on a possible contract extension but the two sides are reportedly still far away from an agreement, per Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Roy has spent his entire six-year NHL career playing for the Kings, logging 369 games in which he's recorded 24 goals and 82 assists. The 29-year-old blueliner has reached the 20-point threshold in each of the last three seasons and should continue to produce at that level moving forward, even if he does end up playing somewhere other than Los Angeles.

2019
Roy missed nearly a month in the latter part of the season due to a lower-body injury. He ended up playing in 67 games for the Kings, posting two goals and 21 points. A seventh-round pick (194th overall) of Los Angeles in 2015, Roy signed a three-year, $9.45 million deal in March 2021. He has two years left on that contract, ensuring the Michigan Tech product will return to his usual top-four role for the club this coming season. It's not a gig that will lead to much fantasy production, but everything the Kings get from Roy at this point is gravy considering where he was taken in his draft year.
