Draws Taira at UFC 302
Van will now take on Tatsuro Taira in a flyweight matchup at UFC 302 on June 1, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
A scheduled matchup against Su Mudaerji fell through Thursday morning, but it didn't take long for the UFC to find Van a new matchup on the pay-per-view card. Van now has to put his unbeaten UFC record on the line against Taira, a 15-0 fighter who already has five UFC wins and two post-fight bonuses under his belt. Taira will enter with significant height and reach advantages, but Van's striking volume nearly triples that of Taira, albeit over a smaller sample size.

Won't face Mudaerji
Van announced on his personal Instagram page that he won't face Su Mudaerji at UFC 302 in Newark on June 1, Octagon Update reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear why Van won't be fighting against Mudaerji, but now he'll either have to find a new opponent for June or postpone the fight and enter the octagon at a later date. Van is 3-0 since joining the UFC ranks.

Given ranked flyweight
Van is scheduled to compete against fellow flyweight Su Mudaerji at UFC 302 in Newark on June 1, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Van was supposed to compete against Lucas Rocha at UFC Vegas 90, but that fight never materialized. Now, the former will fight a fellow flyweight currently No. 15 in the UFC's rankings in that division. Van is 3-0 since joining the UFC, while Mudaerji is looking to bounce back by claiming his first win since 2021.

Remains perfect in UFC
Van defeated Felipe Bunes via TKO (punches) at 4:31 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This was the third UFC bout for Van and the third fight in which he started very slowly before picking up the pace. His prior two bouts ended with decision victories, but the 22-year-old was able to earn the stoppage over Bunes after countless unanswered strikes found the target in the latter stages of Round 2. Van obviously has some talent, and his youth makes him an obvious fighter to keep an eye on moving forward in a thin flyweight division, but these slow starts are going to eventually come back to haunt him.
