2024 Fantasy Outlook
Betts would've easily captured his second career MVP award in 2023 if not for the bonkers season Ronald Acuna put up. The 31-year-old's .307 average, 39 home runs, 126 runs scored and 14 stolen bases were all highs during his time as a Dodger and his 107 RBI broke a major-league record for a leadoff hitter. Not only that, Betts further added to his defensive versatility, starting nearly as many games at second base (62) as he did in right field (77) while also adding his first career 12 starts at shortstop. He fell just shy of retaining shortstop eligibility, but Betts will enter 2024 with dual eligibility and is expected to be the Dodgers' regular at the keystone. You can make a strong argument for Betts being the second pick in fantasy drafts after Acuna. Read Past Outlooks
Smacks leadoff homer
Betts went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Betts snapped a 26-game homer drought with his leadoff blast Monday. He was far from a slouch in that span, batting .337 with an .848 OPS during the power drought. For the season, Betts is up to a .341/.440/.553 slash line with seven homers, 28 RBI, 35 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 11 doubles and two triples over 200 plate appearances. While it has cost him some power, Betts is enjoying the best plate discipline of his career with a 15.0 percent walk rate and 9.0 percent strikeout rate.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Best in NL to begin year
Betts was named the National League Player of the Month for March/April on Friday.
ANALYSIS
It's hardly a surprise, as Betts opened the campaign with four homers in his first five games and finished April with a .368/.477/.624 slash line in 125 at-bats. The 31-year-old is playing a new position at shortstop but hasn't let that affect him at the plate. Betts carried his success into May, as he went 3-for-5 with two RBI in the opening game of the new month.

Despite a two-week IL stint with a cracked rib, Betts parlayed a career high 47.7 percent fly ball rate into 35 homers, a personal best. The downside was a lower BABIP for the fourth straight season, as Betts' uppercut swing decreased his groundball exit velocity, which torpedoed his groundball BABIP. However, a low 16.3 percent strikeout rate limited damage, allowing Betts to register a 144 wRC+, the third best of his career. Betts' sprint speed fell to 49th percentile, but he still collected double-digit pilfers for the eighth straight campaign. In his salad days, Betts was one of the best, if not the top, fantasy batters, worthy of the top overall pick. Less durability, a lower average and fewer steals have conspired to keep him out of that discussion, but he's still in the first-round chat. Since 2016, no one has scored more runs than Betts. Him hitting at or near the top of a potent lineup should keep that intact.
