2024 Fantasy Outlook
Curry served as a long man and occasional spot starter for the Guardians last season, covering 95 innings in 41 appearances (nine starts). The results were a mixed bag as Curry thrived at home (2.98 ERA) but struggled away from Progressive Field (5.53 ERA). He had major issues with same-side pitching. While the right-hander showed some promise in relief, he does not possess the stuff to project as a back-of-the-bullpen arm. His breaking pitches are OK, but Curry averaged just 92.5 mph on his fastball last season, with a 16.6 K%. Chances are, the 25-year-old will do a lot of mopping up until he shows he's worthy of more important innings. Read Past Outlooks
Sent to Triple-A
The Guardians optioned Curry to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Curry was shelled for six earned runs in 3.1 innings during his last outing Monday, and the return of Eli Morgan (shoulder) from the injured list will leave the former as the odd man out of Cleveland's pitching staff. The 25-year-old Curry owns a 5.68 ERA through three starts in the majors and has performed even worse in Triple-A (8.79 ERA), though he still could return to Cleveland this year if a spot opens up in the big-league rotation.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Sticking in bullpen
According to Zack Meisel of The Athletic, Curry isn't currently a rotation candidate since the Guardians like him as a bullpen option.
ANALYSIS
Zach Plesac and Peyton Battenfield are competing for Cleveland's final rotation spot with Aaron Civale on the shelf with an oblique injury. Curry started two games in his first taste of the big leagues last season but has exclusively worked in relief through six outings in 2023, and he's pitched well with a 2.50 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB across 18 frames. The 24-year-old could re-enter the rotation mix if the Guardians have more injury issues, but he's locked in as a long reliever for now.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Curry began 2022 at the Double-A level, posting a 3.65 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with an 80:19 K:BB over 69 innings. He made his Triple-A debut and covered 53 innings with a 4.58 ERA and 1.38 WHIP there while also drawing a couple of spot starts with the Guardians. It's a stretch to think the right-hander will begin 2023 in the Cleveland rotation, but his presence on the 40-man roster suggests he could again regularly serve as a spot starter when injuries arise. He'll once again need to work on keeping the ball down -- his 1.5 HR/9 at Triple-A last year isn't good enough to be an effective major-league starter. He's probably a year away from taking on such a role regularly, though the Guardians' solid stable of starters could see him work as a swingman if he does enough to break camp with the team.
