Undergoes minor ankle surgery
February 15, 2017
Davis underwent "extremely minor" ankle surgery and will not run at the NFL Combine, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
ANALYSIS
It isn't clear when Davis' surgery occurred, but it will prevent him from taking part in any running-related events at this year's NFL Combine, which, for wide receivers, begins on March 1. Fortunately, he's supposed to be ready for post-draft rookie minicamps in early May. If anything, this procedure could have a slightly adverse impact on Davis' draft stock, but it shouldn't have any impact on his preparation for the 2017 NFL season once he's been selected by an organization.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
2014
Davis (6-3, 213) will go down as one of the best receivers in college football history, and 2016 should be his best work yet, even after logging consecutive seasons exceeding 1,400 yards and 10 TDs. Dominant in each of his three years at Western Michigan, Davis heads into his senior season with 234 catches for 3,778 yards and 33 TDs in 36 games. He has an accomplished senior QB (Zach Terrell) throwing him the ball, and he should get more targets now that former teammate Daniel Braverman is in the NFL after catching 108 passes for 1,367 yards and 13 TDs last year.
Although he won't turn 21 until 2016, Davis, 6-3, 205, has already logged two dominant seasons. He had 67 receptions, 941 yards and six scores as a true freshman in 2013 before going off for 78 receptions, 1,408 yards and 15 touchdowns last season. Quarterback Zach Terrell returns after throwing 26 touchdown passes last year, and a strong running game should keep Davis consistently within striking range of the end zone. The only reason Davis isn't the top-ranked wideout is his run-heavy offense, but Davis' success at a young age portends more growth.
Last season could not have been much more miserable for Western Michigan, but Davis was one bright spot in the 1-11 campaign. The Broncos looked perilously thin at receiver after losing Jaime Wilson and Justin Collins to injury, but Davis stepped up by catching 67 passes for 941 yards (14.0 YPC) and six touchdowns in just 11 games. At 6-2, 205, Davis should remain Western Michigan's workhorse at wide receiver this year. He might not see quite as many targets this season, however, as Western Michigan added a pair of strong wideout recruits in Lonnie Johnson and Javonte Seabury.
