2024 Fantasy Outlook
Hines didn't see the field at all in 2023 due to an ACL tear, putting his NFL future in question. The North Carolina State product spent the first four-plus seasons of his career as an effective passing-down back for the Colts, averaging over 50 catches and nearly 400 receiving yards from 2018-2021, but his numbers declined in 2023 as he split the campaign between Indianapolis and Buffalo. After signing a one-year deal with Cleveland in March, he joins a crowded backfield but could contribute early if Nick Chubb isn't fully healthy to begin the season. Read Past Outlooks

Plans to be ready for camp
Hines (knee) said Tuesday he expects to be available for the start of training camp, Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland reports.
ANALYSIS
Hines underwent surgery to repair his left ACL last August, then was released by the Bills in March after missing the entire 2023 season. Assuming he's indeed healthy by the start of training camp, Hines should compete for third-down snaps in the backfield and return work on special teams. With Nick Chubb working his way back from a serious knee injury of his own and no lock to be ready for Week 1, Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman are likely to operate as Cleveland's top backs to begin training camp.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Aiming for training camp return
Hines, who missed the entire 2023 after tearing his ACL in a jet ski accident in July, is optimistic that he will be ready for Browns' training camp, Coral Smith of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hines joined the Browns on a one-year deal in March, and he will be part of a backfield that is led by Nick Chubb, who himself is recovering from two surgeries to repair multiple injuries in his left knee. If Hines is ready to go for training camp, he'll compete against D'Onta Foreman, Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong for the primary backup spot behind Chubb. In his last full season in 2022, Hines accumulated 274 yards and two touchdowns on 54 touches while returning two kickoffs for touchdowns.

Between seven games with the Colts and nine with the Bills in 2022, Hines rushed 24 times for 33 yards and a TD while posting a 30-241-1 receiving line. The running back made a bigger mark in the return game, handling 16 punts (9.6 yards per return) and 19 kickoffs (29.2 yards per return), including two TDs. Hines averaged 52.5 catches with Indianapolis his first four years in the NFL, so even though he only caught five passes for Buffalo last year, he has the ability to produce in that role (along with his special teams duties) if given the opportunity. Unfortunately, Hines was injured this summer in an off-field accident and will miss the 2023 season.
