Dallas Cowboys RB Roles
Team: Dallas Cowboys
Last Update:   5/22/2024
RB Overview
Role Security: Very Low
05/22/24 Ezekiel Elliott is likely the lead back. However, this backfield could be a full-blown committee. Rico Dowdle should see significant work. However, Elliott should be the clear favorite for goal-line work. It's possible the undersized, Deuce Vaughn along with Elliott could see work as a receiver. Malik Davis could also be involved in some capacity. It's also unclear as to whether this backfield will be a hot-hand approach.
WR Overview
05/22/24 CeeDee Lamb should continue be among the league leaders again in targets as the team's top receiver. Last year, Brandin Cooks gained a more consistent role as the season progressed. Cooks should be the clear No. 2 receiver. The current leader for the No. 3 role is Jalen Tolbert. Although Tolbert played significant snaps, he didn't see many targets. Those targets could increase this season. KaVontae Turpin will likely play a gadget role that turns into occasional targets and rushing attempts. Sixth-round rookie Ryan Flournoy will compete for a depth role.
TE Overview
05/22/24 Jake Ferguson will be the top receiving TE. No. 2 TE Luke Schoonmaker will see occasional targets with some of those potentially in the red zone.
