2025 Fantasy Outlook
The Giants signed Encarnacion away from the Mexican League last May and then called him up to the majors in August after he posted a 1.054 OPS with 10 home runs in just 33 games with Triple-A Sacramento. Encarnacion offered a mixed bag during his brief 35-game stint in San Francisco. He had just a 34:5 K:BB in 119 plate appearances, but the 27-year-old popped five homers and put up some eye-popping Statcast numbers with a 58.8 percent hard-hit rate, 95 mph average exit velocity and 15 percent barrel rate. It's pretty clear that the raw pop is there with Encarnacion, who has 50 home runs in 223 career games at the Triple-A level. The question is whether he'll be able to make enough contact to get to it, as he also struck out at a 33.6 percent clip at Triple-A. If you squint you could see a deep-league power sleeper here, but it's probably likelier that Encarnacion never gets a long-term look in the big leagues. Read Past Outlooks

Diagnosed with Grade 2 strain
Encarnacion is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks due to a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis
Encarnacion will remain on the 10-day injured list well beyond his reinstatement eligibility date of Aug. 17 while he works through a right hamstring strain. A clearer timeline for his return should be established once he's cleared to resume baseball activities. Drew Gilbert is in line to see more work in the outfield for as long as Encarnacion is sidelined.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Encarnacion debuted in grand fashion, becoming the first player since at least 1901 to hit a grand slam, record an outfield assist and steal a base in his first major-league game. The fun didn't last long, however, as Encarnacion was back in the minors a couple days later and would play only sporadically throughout later stints with the big-league team. He smacked 14 home runs in 68 games at Triple-A but did so with a strikeout rate close to 30% and that number jumped to close to 40% against big-league arms. The strikeouts may be too much to overcome for Encarnacion, who is 25 already. He probably needs more time back at Triple-A in what will be his final option year. The outfielder was added to the 40-man roster back in November of 2020.
