2025 Fantasy Outlook
Halvorsen, a seventh-round draft pick by the Rockies in 2023, made his major-league debut last August after compiling a 4.47 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 44.1 innings between Colorado's Double-A and Triple-A affiliates. The 6-foot-2 right-hander featured a four-pitch mix headlined by a 100 mph fastball that he tossed 37 percent of the time, but it was his splitter (28 percent usage) and slider (16 percent) that produced the most swing-and-miss. Halvorsen pitched well enough in his limited big-league sample (13:2 K:BB over 12.1 frames) to earn save chances over the final few weeks of the season, recording two in three opportunities. The 25-year-old's minor league track record suggest ratios and walks might be an issue, but Halvorsen's raw talent stands out among other relievers in Colorado's bullpen. He's worth gambling on as a closer-in-waiting type for 2025, but his save ceiling is capped due to the team he plays for. Read Past Outlooks

Has possibly serious elbow injury
Halvorsen hurt his elbow in Saturday's outing against the Pirates, and Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer said after the contest that the closer's injury "don't look good," Christian Saez of TheDNVR.com reports.
Analysis
Halvorsen was able to throw only five pitches before he was removed in the middle of Spencer Horwitz's at-bat. Given Schaeffer's comments, Halvorsen may be dealing with a serious injury, though the team will presumably await test results before determining next steps. Victor Vodnik could be next in line for save chances if Halvorsen does indeed need to miss time.
