2025 Fantasy Outlook
Nix didn’t throw his first touchdown until Week 4 last season but finished with 29 TD passes, the second-most all-time by a rookie, to rank a surprising and impressive QB7 in fantasy. It wasn’t all smooth sailing, though. Nix’s YPA was only 6.7 -- 29th in the league -- and while his 66.3 completion percentage ranked 15th, it probably should have been higher, as two-thirds of his attempts came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. Of the 14 QBs with an aDOT no higher than his 7.4, Nix’s completion percentage was fourth-lowest. There’s also the question of competition. In 10 games against defenses ranked in the bottom third of the league, Nix had a 23:5 TD:INT and 7.2 YPA. In seven other games, he had a 6:7 TD:INT and 5.9 YPA. His rushing production was steadier, boosting his fantasy value with 430 yards (8th among QBs) and four TDs. He’ll need help from his legs again this year, as his 32.4 percent red-zone TD rate (4th) probably will drop closer to league average. Courtland Sutton is a solid No. 1 target, but the remaining WR roles appear up for grabs. The Broncos didn’t add much help either, signing TE Evan Engram, who is coming off shoulder surgery and turns 31 in September, before drafting WR Pat Bryant (3rd round), an expected Day 3 pick who ran a 4.61 40. Nix’s rushing helps make him relevant in single-QB leagues, but there are safer options. Read Past Outlooks

Nix completed 14 of 25 pass attempts for 153 yards and a touchdown while rushing eight times for 33 yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Nix didn't perform particularly poorly, rather falling victim to a dominating ball-control performance from the Chargers (-12:40 in time of possession Sunday). The dual-threat quarterback recorded his highest rushing total of the campaign in the loss while committing no turnovers for the first time in three starts. Nix will attempt to put it all together in a very favorable matchup against the Bengals next Monday.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
The 12th pick in this year’s draft, Nix seemingly has little competition for the starting job in Denver with only career backup Jarrett Stidham and first-round bust Zach Wilson standing in his way. Nix’s best attribute is avoiding negative plays, as he threw 26 INTs in five years as a collegiate starter and took 10 sacks in two years at Oregon. Nix is a skilled passer, though he doesn’t have the arm talent of the other first-round quarterbacks from the 2024 Draft. Oregon’s offense didn’t ask him to do much downfield, instead relying on a heavy diet of screen passes and quick throws, which explains how he set the NCAA single-season record for completion percentage (77.4) last season. Indeed, his 6.8-yard average target depth was the lowest in this year’s draft. At 6-2, 214, Nix is reasonably athletic and can throw on the run but lacks an elite trait. Nix's quick release and processing ability could make him a good fit for Sean's Payton offense -- a la Drew Brees in his later years -- and if anyone is NFL ready it should be Nix, whose 61 starts were an NCAA record for a QB. The Broncos drafted Oregon teammate Troy Franklin in the fourth round to join Courtland Sutton in an otherwise lackluster wideout corps, and Nix should add some rushing stats after posting 1,613 yards and 38 TDs in college.

Payton offers support
QBDenver Broncos
September 25, 2025
Nix, who's completed 64.2 percent of his passes while posting a 5:3 TD:INT over his first three games, was publicly supported by head coach Sean Payton on Thursday, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos are 1-2 after losing on the last play in consecutive games, and Nix missed multiple big-play opportunities during the Week 3 loss to the Chargers. However when asked Thursday about Nix's mechanics thus far this season, Payton said he told his second-year signal-caller to "just keep firing." Additionally, Payton largely excused Nix on an individual level, opining the majority of the unit's issues are rooted in the fact the coaches haven't done enough to help the offense establish an identity.
