2025 Fantasy Outlook
Size-adjusted athleticism is generally an important variable when evaluating NFL running back prospects, so despite excellent production in college it was a major strike to Irving's draft stock when he logged poor workout numbers last spring at just 192 pounds (4.55-second 40, 29.5-inch vertical, 115-inch broad jump). There are exceptions to every rule, though, and while other running backs might have failed with his athletic profile, there's something unique about Irving that allows him to transcend the otherwise concerning indicators in his testing. His strong skill set was always clear at the collegiate level, where he stood out for both Minnesota and Oregon before the Buccaneers made him a fourth-round pick last spring. The main limitation with Irving pertains to his usage upside rather than his per-touch effectiveness. Playing at 192 pounds hasn't deprived Irving of the power necessary to thrive between the tackles, but it remains to be seen whether he can physically hold up as a workhorse. Irving went over 20 carries in a game just twice in college, so it might be asking a lot for him to maintain the rushing workload he shouldered in his final six healthy games of 2024 (18.8 carries per game). Spectator at practice again
Irving (foot/shoulder) isn't taking part in Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Irving is being listed with a pair of health concerns on the Buccaneers' Week 5 injury report, the shoulder issue is considered less worrisome than his sprained left foot, which confined him to a walking boot during Wednesday's walk-through session. The Buccaneers haven't yet officially ruled Irving out for Sunday's game at Seattle, but his consecutive absences to begin Week 5 prep don't bode well for his chances of playing. If Irving ends up sitting out this weekend, Rachaad White would be in line to see more involvement in the rushing attack, as would third-year back Sean Tucker.

Irving is a skilled player, both as a runner and receiver, and he was highly productive at both Minnesota and Oregon. The question of his NFL viability is less certain, as Irving tumbled to the fourth round of the 2024 Draft after posting disappointing numbers at the combine. Fellow former Pac-12 back Myles Gaskin could be a cautionary tale -- Gaskin was an exceptionally productive four-year player at Washington, yet in the NFL a lack of power and speed has caught up to him. Following a 4.55-second 40 time at 192 pounds, Irving heads to the NFL with some of the same concerns. He's unlikely to challenge incumbent starter Rachaad White in any meaningful way, but Irving could earn a change-of-pace role in an offense that otherwise lacks backfield talent.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Consecutive missed practices
Irving missed practice both Wednesday and Thursday due to foot and shoulder injuries, Brianna Dix of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Buccaneers could just be playing it safe with their star second-year back, but Irving's complete lack of participation for consecutive days certainly ups the chances of a possible Week 5 absence. Rachaad White and Sean Tucker are the next two backs on the depth chart, and the fact both players have provided starting-quality performances in the past gives Tampa Bay some solid depth to fall back on if Irving ultimately sits against the Seahawks.
