2025 Fantasy Outlook
Jones played his way out of New York last season, getting released in November. In 10 games, he had eight TD passes and nine turnovers, failing to throw a touchdown pass in six games. His 6.1 YPA ranked 35th of 36 quarterbacks, and his 20.7 completion percentage on attempts of 20-plus yards was last. His once-potent running game crashed too, as he averaged a career-low 4.0 yards per carry. Jones hopes to salvage his career in Indianapolis, where he’ll compete with third-year pro Anthony Richardson for the starting job. Richardson is coming off another injury-plagued year in which he greatly disappointed, but Colts brass likely is still rooting for the 2023 fourth overall pick to come out ahead. Jones is a decent fallback option for an offense centered on Jonathan Taylor’s rushing. The Colts have plenty of quality receiving options, led by WRs Michael Pittman and Josh Downs, and they added tight end Tyler Warren with the 14th overall pick this April. Jones should have enough help, and enough rushing stats, to be a serviceable QB2 if he ends up starting. Read Past Outlooks

Sharp in preseason start
Jones completed seven of 11 passes for 101 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and netted no gain on one carry in the Colts' 23-19 preseason loss to the Packers on Saturday afternoon. He also fumbled once but recovered.
ANALYSIS
Per Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan, Jones' afternoon didn't exactly get off to an encouraging start considering he missed an open Tyler Warren on a third-down pass that was overthrown. However, the veteran was much sharper on his second possession, helming an 11-play, 77-yard march on which he had a big 23-yard completion wiped out by an offensive holding penalty against Adonai Mitchell. Jones completed passes to four different targets, with the highlights being 22- and 25-yard connections to Michael Pittman and Warren, respectively. Anthony Richardson also put some good play on film following Jones' time in the contest, so it remains to be seen if next Saturday's preseason finale at Cincinnati will serve as the final proving ground for both players in their battle for the No. 1 quarterback job.

Jones missed three games last year before tearing his ACL in his first game back. He underwent surgery in late November, so it's possible he's not ready Week 1, in which case Drew Lock will start. The Giants presumably already regret the four-year extension with $92 million guaranteed that Jones signed last offseason. He again was accurate in his six games last season -- 75.0 on-target percentage (5th, min.160 attempts) and 67.5 completion percentage (7th) -- but it, again, was built almost solely on short passes. His average target depth was a scant 6.8 yards (36th) as just 6.9 percent of his attempts traveled 20-plus yards (38th). Of his 13 deep passes, he completed two and had one intercepted. Jones lacks elite arm strength, but his troubles were also a product of having the league's worst offensive line and a receiving corps that ranked last in the league in separation. The latter will be helped by sixth overall draft pick Malik Nabers, who ran a 4.35 40 at his pro day and immediately becomes the No. 1 WR, while the former is helped by the signings of guards Jon Runyan and Aaron Stinnie. The remaining ensemble, though, is still an unimpressive lot, especially after the Giants lost RB Saquon Barkley and replaced him with Devin Singletary. The dink-and-dunk approach can work in fantasy when supplemented with elite rushing -- Jones finished as QB9 in 2022, after all. Last season, though, his per-game rushing average dropped by 10 yards, and that was before the knee injury.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Starter for second preseason game
Jones has been named the starting quarterback for the Colts' second preseason game by head coach Shane Steichen, per Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star.
ANALYSIS
Jones is expected to start and play a couple series before Anthony Richardson subs in for the remainder of the first half. Richardson started the preseason opener against Baltimore, though Jones ended up with a significant edge in playing time in that game after Richardson exited due to a dislocated pinkie finger on his right throwing hand. That injury won't prevent Richardson from playing Saturday as the Colts' quarterback competition continues.
