2025 Fantasy Outlook
A rookie seventh-round pick, Croskey-Merritt was expected to compete with Chris Rodriguez and Jeremy McNichols for the No. 3 RB job in Washington but may now have a shot at something bigger. The team reportedly is shopping Brian Robinson, set to move forward with Austin Ekeler, Croskey-Merritt, Rodriguez and McNichols in the backfield. Eligibility issues limited Croskey-Merritt to one game at Arizona last year, but he ran for 1,190 yards and 17 touchdowns at New Mexico the year before, and he posted a 4.45 40-yard dash at his pro day this spring. He caught just seven passes in 2023, however, and he enters the NFL as a 24-year-old rookie. If nothing else, the opportunity in Washington is an excellent one, allowing Croskey-Merritt to get his foot in the door immediately. Read Past Outlooks

Scores on second drive
Croskey-Merritt (shoulder) took 11 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 31-17 preseason loss to Cincinnati, adding two receptions for no gain on two targets.
ANALYSIS
Brian Robinson was held out amid trade rumors, while Austin Ekeler was merely rested. Chris Rodriguez got the start, broke off a 40-yard run on the second play and took all four snaps on the opening drive with Jayden Daniels. Croskey-Merritt then came in for the second drive and quickly scored a 27-yard TD run. Rodriguez took most of the third series, followed by Croskey-Merritt and Jeremy McNichols sharing snaps until the end of the third quarter. The week before, Croskey-Merritt started over Rodriguez in a loss to New England but came out of the game with a minor injury. After getting back to full strength in a hurry, the rookie seventh-round pick seems to be competing with Rodriguez for the chance to potentially replace Robinson. A handful of Washington beat writers have praised Croskey-Merritt as one of the standouts of training camp, fueling fantasy interest even before the recent reports about Robinson being shopped.

Turning heads at camp
Croskey-Merritt, whom the Commanders selected in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, has been impressing at training camp, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Croskey-Merritt is an intriguing prospect who nearly went undrafted after playing just one game with Arizona in his final college season due to a suspension over eligibility issues. Keim notes Croskey-Merritt, who rushed for 1,190 yards and 17 touchdowns at New Mexico across 12 games in 2023, has stood out with quick one-cut moves and an aggressive running style. "It's the violence of the cuts," head coach Dan Quinn said, "and that he can get his shoulders square and get downhill fast. So, I'm very excited to see once we get into some opportunities, does he get tackled? Does he not? Does he run through some? But he's off to a really good start."
