2025 Fantasy Outlook
It's been pretty much no-boom, all-bust with Miller since the Saints selected him in the third round out of TCU in 2023, and by now it would be understandable if someone were losing their patience, the Saints included. Miller has been injured almost constantly since that draft, playing in only 14 games, including only six games in 2024 after suffering a hamstring injury on the first day of training camp. That injury kept out Miller until Week 7, yet in his second game back Miller suffered another hamstring injury, which left him inactive for the next five weeks. Alvin Kamara is locked into a three-down role for 2025, and Miller's best-case scenario is likely one where he's a sparingly used RB2 behind Kamara. Not even that much is assured, though, because rookie sixth-round pick Devin Neal is nothing if not reliable, and the Saints could understandably find stability attractive after investing so much fruitless patience in Miller the last two years. Miller is still only 23 and might have some amount of untapped upside despite his injury issues, but if he doesn't put it all together soon a guy like Neal can take Miller's spot. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Totes the rock five times Week 1
Miller compiled five rushes for 24 yards during Sunday's 20-13 defeat versus the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Miller operated as the No. 2 running back behind longtime starter Alvin Kamara, who paced the Saints' ground game with 11 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, third-string running back Devin Neal rounded out the ground game with two carries for nine yards. The overall lack of reliance on the ground attack was a departure from the approach under last year's offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, as quarterback Spencer Rattler instead put up a career-high 46 passing attempts. Both Miller and Neal also played under a dozen offensive snaps, with 11 and seven, respectively. The lack of playing time and the minimization of the rushing game don't bode well for any running back playing behind Kamara this season. It will be worth monitoring if offensive-minded head coach Kellen Moore employs a similar approach during the Week 2 matchup versus San Francisco.

2024
2023
Miller's rookie season was brief and inconclusive, but it had some promising glimpses. The 2023 third-round pick out of TCU would have faced a crowded depth chart either way with Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams ahead of him, but Miller never even got the chance to compete for reps due to a preseason knee injury and then an in-season ankle sprain. The flickers of playing time in between were interesting, particularly the pass-catching upside Miller showed against New England in Week 5 (four catches for 53 yards on four targets) and the rushing output against Atlanta in Week 18 (13 carries for 73 yards and one touchdown). Kamara and Williams are still on the roster, but Miller should at least make a push for some of the work that went to Williams during his ineffective debut season in New Orleans (2.9 YPC, one TD).

ANALYSIS
Miller has disappointed since being selected in the third round of the 2023 draft, recording only 80 carries in his first two NFL seasons. His future was unclear after the Saints hired a new coaching staff this offseason and also brought in Devin Neal via the draft and Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Cam Akers as free agents. However, Miller had a strong training camp by most accounts and both Akers and Edwards-Helaire were let go Tuesday. That gives Miller a clear path to carries, and his best chance of breaking out as a pro.
