2025 Fantasy Outlook
There aren't many cases of a player falling off in the middle of their prime like Sanders did since 2022. After running for 1,269 yards (4.9 YPC) and 11 touchdowns that year Sanders signed with Carolina in free agency, yet over the next two years he only ran for 637 yards and three touchdowns (3.5 YPC). Sanders was 26 when he left Philadelphia and had no injury to otherwise explain the dropoff, so Sanders' decline is almost inexplicable. Now 28, Sanders heads to Dallas on a one-year deal to compete for snaps against the likes of Javonte Williams and rookie fifth-round pick Jaydon Blue. Perhaps the change of scenery was the only reason Sanders fell off with the Panthers, and perhaps a move to Dallas is all it will take for Sanders to recapture some of the elusive running he showed in his four years with the Eagles. One problem for Sanders' fantasy upside is that even at his peak Sanders was a poor passing-down back, so even a good-case scenario with Dallas is likely one where Sanders is only slightly involved as a pass catcher. The passing-down snaps in Dallas are more likely to go to Williams and Blue. Read Past Outlooks

Status in question for Week 5
Sanders (knee/ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at the Jets, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Since exiting the Cowboys' Week 4 tie with the Packers just before halftime, Sanders was diagnosed with a right ankle injury and then didn't practice Wednesday through Friday due to listed knee and ankle issues. Despite the lack of activity this week, the team is giving him a chance to be available to the offense Sunday, which will be confirmed about 90 minutes before a 1:00 p.m. kickoff. If Sanders is inhibited or sidelined, Jaydon Blue and Hunter Luepke would be the candidates for RB reps behind starter Javonte Williams, with Malik Davis a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad.

Frank Reich's plan to surround Bryce Young with reliable, veteran skill players last season was a massive failure. Sanders stumbled to career lows in rushing yards and yards per carry, as defenses had little reason to worry about Carolina's passing game and the team's offensive line couldn't open holes for him. Chuba Hubbard quickly passed the former Eagle on the depth chart, and the Panthers grabbed Jonathon Brooks in the second round of the 2024 Draft to eventually become their new feature back. Once Brooks proved he's fully recovered from his knee injury, Sanders could struggle to find snaps.

Splitting first-team work
Sanders and Javonte Williams have been getting most of the first-team reps at June minicamp, per Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
ANALYSIS
The experience of Sanders and Williams has helped them emerge as the frontrunners to lead Dallas' new-look backfield, which also includes rookie fifth-round and seventh-round picks Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah, as well as Deuce Vaughn. Sanders averaged just 3.5 yards per carry across two seasons in Carolina after rushing for a career-high 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns with the Eagles in the 2022 regular season, while Williams averaged 4.4 yards per carry prior to tearing his ACL in 2022 but has averaged just 3.6 yards per carry since the injury, all with the Broncos.
