2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Hendrickson looked to be due for regression in 2024 after logging a career-high 17.5 sacks in 2023 - a number that far outpaced his underlying metrics such as quarterback hits. However, he instead repeated his 17.5 sack total and upped his quarterback hits to 36 and total quarterback pressures to a career-best mark of 83 in 2024. Those performances, combined with the explosion of the edge rusher market, have set the scene for a dramatic offseason. Hendrickson is entering the final season of his current contract and has stated he will not play in 2025 without a new deal, while the Bengals have yet to meet his demands. There's still time for the sides to find a resolution, but this is a situation to monitor as training camp nears. Read Past Outlooks
Holding out from camp
Hendrickson (contract dispute) isn't reporting for the start of training camp Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
His decision to stay away from the team -- rather than showing up but not practicing like Ja'Marr Chase did last year -- means Hendrickson will be fined $50,000 per day until he reports. The 30-year-old pass rusher is set to make $15.8 million in base salary in 2025, the final season of his current contract, after he recorded 57.0 sacks in 65 regular-season games over the last four years. Hendrickson has expressed frustration with the Bengals a few times now, including getting permission in March to seek a trade. He skipped most of OTA practices and all of June minicamp before contract discussions resumed in mid-June.

2021
Hendrickson had the best season of his career in 2023 by nearly any measure. That began with his ability to stay on the field, as he managed to play a full season for the first time since 2021. The result was a career-high 714 defensive snaps, 17.5 sacks and 43 total tackles. Hendrickson's calling card remains his ability as a pass rusher, and he's finished no worse than 11th in quarterback pressures in each of the last three years (per PFF). While he's unlikely to replicate his sack total from last season, his ability to get to the quarterback consistently illustrates his ability to disrupt offenses and rack up production. Hendrickson's limitations as a defender against the run will cut out some of his upside relative to the elite defensive lineman, but there will be a nearly guaranteed level of production for anyone rostering him.

Begins hold out
Hendrickson is training in Jacksonville as the Bengals' training camp begins, Paul Denher Jr. and Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Hendrickson has had one of the more public contract negotiations this offseason, and there appeared to be a push toward a deal between he and the Bengals in the days leading up to training camp. However, with no new contract in place, Hendrickson is away from the team and noted that he left the Cincinnati area in an attempt to avoid becoming a bigger distraction. The debated terms are reportedly the length of the extension and the amount of money guaranteed in the deal.
