Called up from minors
Martin was promoted from AHL Chicago on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Martin's elevation to the main roster may not bode well for the availability of Frederik Andersen (undisclosed) ahead of Tuesday's clash with the Devils. Still, recalling Martin could be simply a depth move, considering the Wolves have already been eliminated from the Calder Cup Playoffs.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Martin registered a 3-8-1 record with a 3.65 GAA and a .887 save percentage in 13 appearances for Columbus before being claimed off waivers by Carolina. As a member of the Hurricanes, he went 4-1-1 with a 2.63 GAA and a .896 save percentage. The organization promptly signed Martin to a one-year contract extension in March. Carolina desperately needed goaltending depth because of Frederik Andersen's blood clotting issue. In fact, Andersen has been limited to 50 appearances over the past two seasons, and more absences would lead to more opportunities for Martin and Pyotr Kochetkov in 2024-25. The 29-year-old Martin could be a solid waiver option, but he is firmly entrenched in the No. 3 spot on the goaltending depth chart going into the upcoming campaign.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Working in starter's crease
Martin was in the starter's crease Monday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports, indicating he'll be in goal versus Dallas at home.
ANALYSIS
With Frederik Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov dealing with knee and upper-body injuries, respectively, the team will likely have to turn to Martin for Monday's matchup. In his five appearances for the Hurricanes this season, the 29-year-old Martin has posted a 1-2-1 record, 3.21 GAA and one shutout. Unless one of the aforementioned netminders returns soon, Martin figures to have to carry the workload for Carolina for a while.
