Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
In 2024 Benintendi matched his career high with 20 homers, first achieved in his first full season in the majors. He posted his highest barrel rate since 2021 and highest fly-ball rate ever. The added lift dropped his BABIP (and batting average) to its lowest in a full season. The result was a 93 wRC+, the second straight season he was below average. After stealing 13 bases the prior year, he stopped taking advantage of the new rules with 10 fewer bags. Surprisingly, Benintendi's minus-13 defensive runs saved were the worst of all left fielders. The White Sox are committed to Benintendi through 2027; his weak bat and subpar glove will be in the lineup. Volume is his main asset, leaving him as a back-end outfielder with no upside. A wave of top prospects joins the American League free-agent pool this week, including the Minnesota Twins' Luke Keaschall.

The Giants' offense should benefit from seven home games while Todd Zola also discusses similar favorable situations for a couple other clubs.

The first season of Benintendi's five-year, $75 million contract with the White Sox couldn't have gone much worse. Benintendi managed to hit just five home runs and post a .356 slugging percentage over 621 plate appearances, and a woeful 27 percent hard-hit rate confirms that he made some of the weakest contact in baseball. Among 133 qualifiers, Benintendi ranked 123rd with his .682 OPS. To make matters worse, his defense in left field went from below average to borderline unplayable. Whether it was a display of unwavering loyalty or simply a lack of other options, manager Pedro Grifol continued to run Benintendi out there every day and rarely had him batting lower than second. With the White Sox in rebuild mode and four more years left of his deal, Benintendi should continue to be an everyday guy. His high contact rate makes him a solid bet for average, but he has little else going for him.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Excelling with tweaked stance
Benintendi has "meshed together" a leg kick and toe tap and has a .276/.350/.528 slash line with 11 homers in 45 games since the start of August, per James Fegan of SoxMachine.com.
ANALYSIS
The veteran outfielder totaled just five homers in 151 games last season and had an abysmal .574 OPS in his first 88 contests this year, but he's found his groove at the plate over the past two months. Benintendi has three years and $49.3 million left on his contract after 2024, so he should continue to have a prominent role for the White Sox next season. A strong first half in 2025 could make him a more viable trade target at the summer deadline.
