2025 Fantasy Outlook
While it was still his most-used pitch, Singer dropped his sinker usage quite a bit in 2024 down to 41.3 percent. It was the first time he's ever used it less than 50 percent of the time in a season, and it proved more effective with a career-high plus-13 Run Value. It was a nice bounce-back season on the whole for Singer, although an xERA of 4.65 was nearly a run worse than his actual ERA. He also had major platoon splits, holding righties to a .563 OPS but getting pummeled by lefties to the tune of an .855 OPS. Now 28, it's fair to wonder whether Singer will ever develop a viable third pitch. Without one, he's probably reached his ceiling, which is that of a perfectly solid but low-upside fantasy starter. Singer's margin for error shrunk after he landed in Great American Ball Park in an offseason trade, although being a ground ball pitcher could help mitigate that potential disaster. 2019
Almost everything pointed to Singer being able to take a big step forward in 2023, but he instead regressed to the tune of a career-worst 5.52 ERA. It would be reasonable on the surface to blame the arm fatigue that plagued him in the second half or the back strain that ended his season in mid-September, but he wasn't particularly good in the first half either. Singer is still young -- this will be his age-27 campaign -- but there is some worrisome data suggesting major-league hitters might have figured him out. Largely a two-pitch, sinker-slider type of hurler, he gave up an average exit velocity of 91 mph on batted balls last year, falling into the bottom-sixth percentile of all big-league pitchers in that measurement. He generates a lot of groundballs, but Singer will have to generate even more moving forward if he can't rework his arsenal and/or add an effective third pitch.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Target for Reds?
The Royals and Reds have engaged in trade talks surrounding Singer and Jonathan India, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Singer enjoyed a solid bounce-back campaign in 2024, posting a 3.71 ERA and 1.27 WHIP alongside a 170:54 K:BB through 179.2 innings. The Royals are reportedly looking to add a bat to their lineup in exchange for the 28-year-old righty -- India being just one of several players who've piqued their interest -- though the two sides are not close to a deal at the moment.
