Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Mitchell sustained a hand fracture late in the spring and didn't make his season debut until July, which has become an unfortunate theme early in his career, as he was limited to 19 games in 2023 due to a torn labrum in his shoulder. The 2020 first-round pick was once again productive when available and had a .255/.342/.469 slash line with eight home runs and 11 stolen bases in 69 contests. His strikeout rate remained high at 31.7 percent, though that's an improvement from his first two seasons (which is a sample size of only 47 games), and he also improved his walk rate to 11.3 percent. Mitchell has showcased his prospect pedigree when healthy, but it's unclear if that production is sustainable for a full season given he's played in just 88 games across the past two seasons. The Brewers have plenty of outfield depth with Blake Perkins, Sal Frelick, Jackson Chourio and Christian Yelich, so Mitchell could have his workload managed even if he's playing well and has earned an everyday role. Between the crowded outfield and the injury concerns, Mitchell is a risky bet for fantasy managers in 2025. The payoff if that bet hits, however, could be a 20-20 outfielder in a strong lineup. Sitting against southpaw
Mitchell is not in the Brewers' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.

San Francisco is sending left-hander Robbie Ray to the hill, so Mitchell will begin Monday's game in the dugout while Isaac Collins joins Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio in the outfield. Mitchell has begun the season slashing .222/.295/.333 with one stolen base, seven runs scored and three RBI in 62 plate appearances.

2021
The carpet was laid out for Mitchell last spring. He had secured a regular role in the Milwaukee outfield and was coming off a strong first cup of major-league coffee in 2022. Unfortunately, though, he suffered significant damage to the labrum in his left shoulder in the 18th game of the 2023 regular season and required a surgical procedure that kept him out until late September. Mitchell was then left off the Brewers' roster for their Wild Card Series matchup against the Diamondbacks, and his standing within the organization was even further clouded by the record eight-year, $82 million contract doled out to top outfield prospect Jackson Chourio in early December. Mitchell has great speed and a mature plate approach, but he'll need steady playing time to make it count. Chourio now projects to be the Opening Day center fielder, with Christian Yelich and Sal Frelick flanking him in the corners. Fourth outfielders don't usually carry fantasy relevance.

Getting discussed in trade talks
Mitchell's name has come up in trade talks involving the Brewers, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray notes that he's unsure how willing the Brewers would be to trade Mitchell, especially since the club is reportedly seeking left-handed bats and Christian Yelich's status is uncertain due to back woes. Mitchell missed most of 2023 following shoulder surgery and didn't make his season debut in 2024 until July because of a fractured finger. He's under team control through 2028.
