Rest-of-Season Projections
Dealt to Minnesota
The Twins acquired Doncon, outfielder Manuel Margot and cash from the Dodgers on Monday in exchange for infielder Noah Miller, John Bonnes of TwinsDaily.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Margot is the headliner in the deal from the Twins' side, but the 21-year-old Doncon at least represents an interesting throw-in piece. Signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2021, Doncon completed his first year of full-season ball in 2023, slashing .215/.283/.368 with 14 home runs and three steals in 473 plate appearances for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga while making 20-plus starts at shortstop, second base and third base. He managed an underwhelming 76 wRC+, though he was two years younger than the average California League player.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Part of the 2020 J-2 class that had to wait to sign in January of 2021, Doncon has been one of the few from that class who has performed as advertised. A lanky 6-foot-2 middle infielder with long limbs and a projectable frame, Doncon did his most impressive work over the final weeks of the season split between the complex league and Single-A. Over his final 38 games, Doncon slashed .282/.335/.564 with 11 home runs, four steals, a 17.4 K% and a 7.5 BB%. He likes to swing, and he makes plenty of contact, but there could be a level where pitchers are able to take advantage of his aggressiveness. Doncon is still growing into his body, so it's unclear how his speed and power will age, but it seems possible he could end up being a 25-homer third baseman or corner outfielder who outgrows the middle infield. He should split his age-19 season between Single-A and High-A.
