Donovan Mitchell Injury: Expected to be ready for playoffs
Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson said over the weekend that he anticipates Mitchell (ankle) will be ready for the start of the Cavaliers' first-round playoff series, which begins Sunday, Joe Reedy of the Associated Press reports.
Mitchell missed the final four games of the regular season due to a sprained left ankle, though the Cavaliers likely exercised some caution with him after clinching the top record in the Eastern Conference. The superstar guard's numbers dipped across the board during the 2024-25 campaign, with Atkinson deliberately electing to pull back the minutes for all of the team's starters compared to the season prior in an effort to key those key players fresh heading into the playoffs. Mitchell's ankle shouldn't be an issue heading into the playoffs, as he logged at full workout at the team facility Saturday and is expected to be a full participant in practice this week, according to Atkinson.
