2003 Fantasy Outlook
Coach Maurice Cheeks has been quoted as saying Dale Davis is his starter until he's beaten out. We say Sabonis will be starting by at least mid-season and anytime the club plays the Lakers. Preliminary expectations are for 15-20 minutes a night. Over the long haul look for around eight points, seven rebounds, one or two assists and close to 50% from the field and 80% from the stripe. One note of caution: Sabonis does have an injury history and he's getting up there in age. All things being equal we'd still take a flier on him in the late rounds because of the lack of good centers in the NBA today.
