Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Justin John Champagnie (pronounced sham-PEH-nee) was born in June of 2001 in Staten Island, New York. The forward has two brothers and is the son of Ranford and Christina Champagnie. Ranford played college soccer at St. John's and Justin's brother, Julian, played hoops for St. John's. Champagnie grew up in Brooklyn, where he attended Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School. As a senior, Champagnie earned first-team NYSSWA Class AA all-state honors and delivered 19.8 points per game. Champagnie then committed to the University of Pittsburgh. As a true freshman in 2019-20, Champagnie averaged 12.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game before a December knee injury forced him to miss roughly four weeks of play. He return in late January and delivered 31 points and 14 boards during an OT win over Duke. At the end of the season, the freshman was named to the First Team All-ACC squad. As a sophomore, Champagnie upped his scoring to 18.0 points per contest and shot 53.6 percent from the field. He then declared for the 2021 NBA Draft, but went unselected. In August of 2021, Champagnie signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors.

April 14, 2025
Champagnie provided 27 points (11-16 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 0-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal across 39 minutes during Sunday's 119-118 win over the Heat.
ANALYSIS Making his 11th straight start to close out the season, Champagnie scored at least 20 points for the third time in the last four games and delivered his best scoring effort since he dropped a career-high 31 on the Knicks in late December. The 23-year-old forward is already on his third NBA team in four seasons. Still, he may have put himself in the Wizards' 2025-26 plans with his finish to the current campaign -- over that 11-game starting stint, Champagnie averaged 14.6 points, 9.0 boards, 1.9 threes, 1.5 steals and 1.1 assists while shooting 57.5 percent from the floor and 42.0 percent from beyond the arc.

April 16, 2025
Champagnie finished the 2024-25 regular season with the Wizards on a high note.
ANALYSIS Washington's decision to sign Champagnie to a three-year, $6.82 million contract in March appears to be a bargain. The forward posted averages of 8.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.2 three-pointers in 21.6 minutes across 62 regular-season games, but he really turned on the jets late -- in the final five games, Champagnie produced 19.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.6 steals, 0.8 blocks and 3.0 three-pointers.
