Pushing for playing time in 2024
Smith has stood out in spring practice for the Buckeyes and is pushing for playing time as a true freshman in 2024, Garrick Hodge of Eleven Warriors reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith was reportedly the fastest freshman to shed his traditional black stripe, which is given to newcomers until they prove themselves worthy of its removal. Smith didn't take long for that, needing only four practices before the black stripe was gone. He's continued to make standout plays throughout camp, and with Marvin Harrison Jr. gone to the NFL and Julian Fleming transferring to Penn State, there is room atop the depth chart alongside Emeka Egbuka if Smith can continue to perform.
