Samuel (neck/shoulder) remains unsigned and has a "medical concern" that's impacting teams' interest in him, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

A previous report said he's dealing with something similar to stinger symptoms, though lasting for months rather than weeks. There's a lot riding on Samuel in his fourth professional season as the cash-strapped Chargers let multi-year starter Michael Davis leave via free agency and didn't select any rookie defensive backs until Day 3 of the 2024 draft. As a result, the 24-year-old will be the team's most experienced starting cornerback despite struggling frequently in 2023 as the de-facto top option, when he logged 63 tackles and two picks in 17 regular-season contests. A Jim Harbaugh-led defense has typically been successful in the NFL, but it'll be interesting to see if Samuel's abilities at corner will prove up to the task.
