With Chris Conte (chest) expected to return to the field this week, the Buccaneers decided to part ways with replacement safety, who they brought in two weeks ago. He'll now look to find his way onto another roster that's looking to bolster their secondary.

The veteran suffered an injury-shortened second season in Tampa, appearing in just nine games while recording 25 tackles (16 solo) and three passes defensed. Wright saw time as both a starter and reserve, and 2016 could potentially bring more of the same if he can outperform fellow safety Bradley McDougald. The 28-year-old has tallied season highs of 100 tackles and four interceptions in his career, along with three pick-sixes. Those numbers render him a potentially sneaky IDP selection, but only if he's able to lock down and keep a starting role for the duration of the campaign.

Wright played for Lovie Smith in Chicago and will provide depth at safety.

Wright really broke through with the Bears last season at strong safety, finishing second on the team with 100 tackles (78 solo) while also recording two interceptions, two forced fumbles and a defensive score. He was cut by the Bucs in August, however.

Wright finished third on the Bears' in tackles last season, and will once again be the starting strong safety in the Bears' potent secondary.

Health and consistency issues continue to keep Wright off the field, but he still enters the season as the starter. As a hold-over from Jerry Angelo's tenure, this could end up a make-or-break year for the third year player as rookie Brandon Hardin waits in the wings.

With the departure of Danieal Manning, Wright will step into the starting free safety position. Which should allow him to showcase his play-making abilities if he can remain healthy, something he couldn't do in 2010.

Wright, the 75th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, will fight for a starting safety spot during training camp.
