Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Blackshear is heading into his fourth season as a Panther, having tallied just 203 rushing yards and 138 receiving yards across 41 games. He served as Carolina's top return specialist in 2024, but the offseason additions of Jimmy Horn and Trevor Etienne make it possible that Blackshear doesn't retain the role in 2025. Blackshear is expected to carry minimal fantasy value next season, playing behind Chubba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle and Etienne. Read Past Outlooks
Gets look from Minnesota
The Vikings hosted Blackshear (ankle) for a workout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Blackshear reached an injury settlement with the Panthers in late August after reverting to the team's injured reserve due to an ankle injury. He appears to have fully recovered from the injury and is attempting to catch on with a team in need of backfield depth on the practice squad.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Undrafted out of Virginia Tech in 2022, Blackshear has seen limited opportunities the last two seasons. He lacks the size to be an every-down workhorse, but he showed a three-down skill set in college and could be a useful depth option in the NFL. It's impossible to understate how the Panthers' poor offensive line play has kept him from showing it, however. He's averaged only 1.8 yards before contact per rush in his career, which would have been a bottom-10 mark in 2023. The addition of Jonathon Brooks in the 2024 Draft just puts another obstacle in Blackshear's way.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Disappoints in preseason opener
Blackshear's margin for error to make the Panthers' 53-man roster shrunk following his performance in Friday's 30-10 preseason loss against the Browns, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer relays.
ANALYSIS
A returner role on special teams is Blackshear's clearest path to make the roster, but he took his lone punt return for only two yards while adding 15 yards on a kick return. He didn't make much impact on offense either, gaining zero yards on his lone carry while adding a catch for four yards. If the Panthers elect to carry three running backs at the end of training camp, Kaye believes that fourth-round rookie Trevor Etienne would have the edge over Blackshear to join Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle on the 53-man squad. Blackshear has two more preseason games to make his case, with the Texans on Saturday, Aug. 16 being the next contest on the docket.
