Struggles continue in Seattle
BantamweightUFC
February 22, 2025
Basharat lost to Ricky Simon via KO (punch) at 3:58 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Coming off the first loss of his pro career against Aiemann Zahabi last March, Basharat came out here and flopped as a -260 favorite. He was actually getting the better of the stand-up action prior to the stoppage, but one Simon right hand landed flush and knocked Javid out cold before he hit the mat. It was one of the most vicious knockouts you will ever see. Winless in his last three fights (0-2, 1NC) and without a victory in more than two years, Basharat is about out of time in a deep bantamweight division.

Basharat will take on Ricky Simon in a bantamweight matchup at UFC Seattle on Feb. 22, Alex Behunin of MMA Mania reports.
ANALYSIS
Basharat is without a UFC victory since January of 2023, as he had a tough break in a no-contest against Victory Henry two Octobers ago before losing to Aiemann Zahabi last March and getting his next 2024 fight cancelled. He now looks to get back on the winning path against Simon, a tough fighter with a respectable resume, but also one who happens to have lost three in a row under the UFC banner.

Basharat is not fighting Chris Gutierrez at UFC Vegas 95, according to Alex Behunin of MMA Mania.
ANALYSIS
It is unclear why Basharat and Gutierrez are no longer fighting at UFC Vegas 95. This prevents Basharat from having an immediate chance to get back on track following his March loss.

Basharat will take on Chris Gutierrez in a bantamweight fight at UFC Abu Dhabi on Aug. 3, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Basharat started out his UFC career 3-0, but has not seen a win since January of 2023 as he fought to a no-contest back in October and most recently lost to Aiemann Zahabi in March. The 28-year-old from Afghanistan will take on a longer tenured UFC fighter in Gutierrez, who holds an 8-2-1 record since his debut in 2019.
Falls as monumental favorite
BantamweightUFC
March 2, 2024
Basharat lost to Aiemann Zahabi via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
What a disaster. Suffering your first professional loss as a -1000 favorite is, quite honestly, impressive. Basharat was the better man for exactly one round. After that, he allowed Zahabi to land with more frequency and more authority. The fact Javid failed on all four of his takedown attempts didn't help, either. Plenty of knowledgable people felt Basharat was a real up-and-comer at bantamweight, but this result, with no disrespect to Zahabi, says otherwise. Javid had been undefeated in his first four UFC bouts (3-0, 1NC), but those wins came over Trevin Jones, Tony Gravely and Mateus Mendonca. That's not exactly the top of the food chain at 135 pounds.
