Handles late-notice opponent
HeavyweightUFC
April 5, 2025
Buday defeated Uran Satybaldiev via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Originally scheduled to face Kennedy Nzechukwu here, Buday agreed to the opponent change on Thursday. He got the job done, but was unimpressive in the process. Outweighing the debuting Satybaldiev by at least 40 pounds, Buday did just enough work on the feet to complement his typical wall-and-stall tactics. The Slovakian was credited with 5:06 worth of control time, which entirely consisted of pinning Satybaldiev up against the cage. Buday lacks power and athleticism, which is a bad combination for a heavyweight. That said, he's 6-1 in his first seven UFC bouts, albeit all against lower-end competition.

Now fighting Satybaldiev
HeavyweightUFC
April 3, 2025
Buday will take on Uran Satybaldiev at UFC Vegas 105 on Saturday after Kennedy Nzechukwu was dropped from the bout, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
On extremely short notice, Buday has a new opponent for Saturday's event in Las Vegas. Kennedy Nzechukwu (undisclosed) was dropped from the fight, and Uran Satybaldiev is stepping up to make his UFC debut. Satybaldiev last fought (and won) in the Legacy Fighting Alliance on March 6, so it's also an extra short turnaround for him. The two fighters are the same height, but Buday has a three-inch disadvantage in reach.
Next fight booked
HeavyweightUFC
February 4, 2025
Buday will take on Kennedy Nzechukwu in a heavyweight bout at UFC Vegas 105 on April 5, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Buday will step into the Octagon for the first time in over nine months against a fighter in Nzechukwu who's gained some serious momentum. The latter has won two straight to push his UFC record to 8-5. Buday still stands at an impressive 5-1, and he's also coming off a win, but this should be a highly competitive bout between the two heavyweights.
Withdraws from Kuniev fight
HeavyweightUFC
November 20, 2024
Buday has withdrawn from his fight against Rizvan Kuniev that was scheduled for Dec. 7 at UFC 310, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
The reason for Buday's withdrawal is unknown, and there is also no telling whether Kuniev will receive a new opponent and remain on the card. Buday will now have to wait a bit longer for his next chance to build momentum after taking down Andrei Arlovski in June.
From veteran to debutant
HeavyweightUFC
October 24, 2024
Buday is scheduled to compete against fellow heavyweight Rizvan Kuniev at UFC 310 in Paradise on Dec. 7, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Buday began his 2024 somewhat strong with a win over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski, albeit in unimpressive fashion and against a long-time veteran well past his prime. This time, Buday gets a UFC debutant who earned his contract through Dana White's Contender Series.
Wins UFC 303 snoozer
HeavyweightUFC
June 29, 2024
Buday defeated Andrei Arlovski via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27) at UFC 303 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's the rare fight in which both men saw their stocks crater in the process. Arlovski is 45 years old and clearly at the end of the line, so it's a bit more understandable for him. There's no such defense for Buday. Martin "won" the total strike count by a 100-48 mark, but lost the significant strike count by a 41-30 margin. Neither man landed a takedown. In short, Buday was lucky to earn the decision in one of the most boring fights you will ever see. The 32-year-old Slovakian has zero momentum behind him despite the fact he is somehow 5-1 in his first six UFC bouts.
