No-shows first UFC main event
Pereira lost to Anthony Hernandez via TKO (elbows) at 2:22 of Round 5 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Riding high on an eight-fight winning streak heading into his first UFC main event, Pereira put forth one of the worst efforts you will ever see. To say he had nothing for Hernandez would be the understatement of the century. He did manage to fend off 19 takedown attempts, but that's irrelevant because he allowed 10 to land. The 15:42 he spent being controlled on the mat ensured he wasn't able to get his explosive striking game going in the least. Look, Hernandez is a tough matchup for any middleweight, but you can't fancy yourself a contender and go out and put forth this type of performance. The Brazilian is going to have a difficult time rebounding from this result.

Fight rescheduled
Pereira's fight against Anthony Hernandez will no longer take place at UFC 306 in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sept. 14 but will instead headline a Fight Night card on Oct. 19, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pereira is still set to compete against Hernandez in the middleweight division, but now just over a month later. Pereira will look to extend his winning streak to nine and has won via submission in four of his last six bouts.

Another fight in September
Pereira will take on Anthony Hernandez at UFC 306 September 14, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Pereira has been on a tear in 2024, beating Michal Oleksiejczuk and Ihor Potieria both by submission to amass to an eight match win streak. The Brazilian middleweight will fight Hernandez, who has utilized a submission in four of his six UFC wins, so the matchup could very well be decided on the ground.

Quick turnaround
Pereira will take on Roman Dolidze at UFC Louisville on June 8, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pereira will be right back at it following his UFC 301 victory over Ihor Potieria. That was Pereira's eighth consecutive victory and he has looked very impressive since making the move from welterweight to middleweight. Dolidze last fought in February when he fell to Nassourdine Imavov.

Dominates to win eighth in a row
Pereira defeated Ihor Potieria via submission (guillotine choke) at 0:54 of Round 1 at UFC 301 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
With all due respect to Potieria and Makhmud Muradov, Pereira's originally scheduled opponent this evening, it's time for the Brazilian to get a signifiant step up in competition. He dropped Potieria with a jab before doing a crazy backflip on top of him and putting Ihor to sleep with a guillotine choke. All of which happened in the first 54 seconds of the fight, and the end result was one of four $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses awarded on the evening. Michel has won eight straight including the last three via stoppage. He looks like a different man at 185 pounds. It's worth noting that Pereira was due to fight Stephen Thompson at UFC 291 last July and missed weight, forcing the cancellation. Perhaps the company will look to re-book those two at some point down the line.
