Carlos Alcaraz has been ruled out of the Madrid Open, ATP confirmed on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Alcaraz will not take part in the ATP 1000 event in Madrid. The reigning world number three has not managed to recover from a hamstring injury which he sustained in the final of the Barcelona Open, where he lost to Denmark's Holger Rune in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-2. In a statement released on ATP's official website, Alcaraz expressed optimism that he will recover before the start of the Rome Masters next month.
