2024 Fantasy Outlook
Trask hoped to push Baker Mayfield for starts last season, but that never materialized and he ended up attempting just one pass (which fell incomplete). With Mayfield back in the fold with a new $100 million contract, the song remains the same for Trask. At 6-5, 236, Trask has a strong arm and threw with touch and accuracy in college, but as long as Mayfield keeps performing, he’s stuck as the backup. The Buccaneers return their key offensive playmakers, and while offensive coordinator Dave Canales bolted for Carolina, Tampa Bay hired former Kentucky OC Liam Coen to continue the Sean McVay-derived offense -- Coen previously coached under McVay with the Rams. Trask isn’t particularly mobile, so probably wouldn’t offer much rushing upside if he takes the field. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Barely plays in '23
Trask saw action in only two games during the 2023 regular season, failing to complete his only pass attempt and netting minus-1 yard on his only rush attempt. He didn't appear in either of Tampa Bay's postseason games.
ANALYSIS
Trask and Baker Mayfield engaged in a training camp and preseason job battle in which the latter prevailed, and Mayfield then turned out to be an unqualified success as the Buccaneers' starting signal-caller. As a result of Mayfield's solid play and good health, Trask was a non-factor throughout the campaign and has now put up just 10 regular-season pass attempts in his first three NFL seasons. The Florida product did seem to show plenty of progress from his first two seasons during camp practices and exhibition action, but Trask is still unlikely to be handed the starting gig heading into 2024 even if Mayfield -- a pending free agent -- isn't re-signed.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be called upon for key game
Trask is expected to see extra reps in practice and could start Sunday's regular-season finale against the Panthers with Baker Mayfield recovering from a rib injury, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Mayfield has started every game since he beat out Trask for the starting role in the preseason. The Buccaneers are on the precipice of a playoff berth, as a win over the 2-14 Panthers would secure the NFC South crown for Tampa Bay. If Mayfield is unable to recover from his rib injury by Sunday, however, Trask would be in line to make his first NFL start in a pivotal game.

2021
A 2021 second-round pick, Trask spent the last two years watching Tom Brady before getting the chance this summer to compete with Baker Mayfield for a starting job. The Bucs settled on Mayfield as the Week 1 starter after two weeks of preseason action, but Trask still stands a decent chance to make starts at some point this year. The 6-5 Trask is at least four inches taller than Mayfield, who has a similarly large advantage when it comes to experience -- Trask has nine NFL pass attempts to his name, all of which came in Week 18 last season. While not particularly mobile, Trask was excellent in the pocket at Florida with a 67.9 percent completion rate and 69/15 TD/INT, highlighted by 4,283 yards and 43 TDs his senior year. He has a strong arm, with touch and accuracy to stretch the field. The Bucs have quality receiving options and hired first-time coordinator Dave Canales, a long-time Seattle assistant who last year coached quarterbacks. Trask has untapped potential, whereas the 28-year-old Mayfield is a known quantity.
