Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Etienne's 2024 season was a disaster, making him one of the biggest fantasy busts of the year. There might not be much to make of the season, though. The Jaguars' collapse under the stale direction of Doug Pederson and Press Taylor was memorable and rare – it isn't often that you see a team unable to execute basic operations like the Jaguars under Pederson in 2024. Schematically, there probably won't be much in common between the 2024 offense under Taylor and the 2025 version under Liam Coen. The burst of Bucky Irving became a primary theme in Coen's Tampa Bay offense, and while fellow Jaguars runner Tank Bigsby can provide power functions, it's clearly Etienne who more closely resembles Irving. Not just that, but Etienne has the speed to break even bigger runs than Irving might have in the same situation. The problem for this comparison pops up when you look at the Jacksonville offensive line, which is patchy at best. The Jaguars will need to get their trenches in order, and Etienne will need to stay healthy after playing through a hamstring tweak for an unspecified number of weeks in 2024. There's also some chance Coen becomes enamored with rookie fourth-round pick Bhayshul Tuten, whose 4.32 40 time makes him one of the few RBs in the league who is clearly faster than Etienne. RANKS
Makes statement in Week 1 win
Etienne carried the ball 16 times for 143 yards and caught all three of his targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 26-10 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year RB headed into Week 1 with big questions about his spot on the Jaguars' depth chart, and how much of the workload he might have to share with Tank Bigsby and rookie Bhayshul Tuten. Etienne answered those questions in emphatic fashion, with his longest gain going for 71 yards in the second quarter to set up a Brian Thomas touchdown. Meanwhile, Bigsby and Tuten combined for just 23 rushing yards on eight carries, and neither one caught a pass. New coach Liam Coen turned Bucky Irving into a star last season in Tampa Bay, and at least through one week, he appears to be working that same magic with Etienne. He'll look to keep rolling in a Week 2 road battle against the Bengals.

You wouldn't know it from his 2023 rushing average, but Etienne is one of the most explosive running backs of distant NFL memory. This was made clear by his 2022 season (5.1 yards per carry over 220 carries) and four-year Clemson career (7.2 yards per carry and 70 touchdowns over 686 carries). The Jaguars offense fell apart in 2023, however, implausibly limiting Etienne to 3.8 YPC. The coaches and front office committed to the theory that this dropoff was the fault of the offensive line rather than the scheme/coaches, making it a goal to improve the team's blocking going into 2024. Unfortunately, the Jaguars mostly seem to be counting on internal improvement and better health. The signing of free agent center Mitch Morse adds a competent starter but not a true difference-maker, and the other four positions are in the hands of returning starters Cam Robinson (left tackle), Ezra Cleveland (left guard), Brandon Scherff (right guard) and Anton Harrison (right tackle). Although Etienne is one of the best running backs in the league and seemingly locked in for another large workload, he might be playing on a higher difficulty level than other top RBs.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Status for Sunday murky
Etienne could be held out of Sunday's preseason game against the Saints due to injuries along the Jaguars' offensive line, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In an article discussing Travis Hunter's potential absence from Sunday's exhibition due to an upper-body injury, DiRocco also notes the rookie first-round pick could be joined by other offensive starters on the sideline if he does sit out. Head coach Liam Coen foreshadowed such a development Friday, noting injuries up front could lead to the coaching staff erring on the side of caution "to make sure we're protected and we have the right guys in front" for both quarterback Trevor Lawrence and "the runners."
