2025 Fantasy Outlook
Loveland is considered a notch below Brock Bowers as a prospect despite being taken a few picks earlier -- 10th overall to the Bears. Fortunately, there’s plenty of room between Bowers and bust, after the 2024 first-round pick set rookie TE records for catches and yards. Loveland caught 56 passes for 582 yards and five TDs in 10 games for Michigan last season, with his slight dip in receiving yards (compared to 649 in 2023) a product of playing five fewer games than he had the year before. The raw receiving stats may not stand out, but that's largely because he ran fewer than 300 routes in each of his three seasons in run-first Michigan offenses. The per-route production was far more impressive, especially when accounting for age, with Loveland having put up 16-235-2 as an 18-year-old freshman and now set to play a full NFL season before turning 22. At 6-foot-5, 245 pounds, Loveland is considered a competent blocker in addition to being an excellent pass catcher, which should help him get on the field soon enough, although there are serious Year 1 workload concerns on a team that returns incumbent starting tight end Cole Kmet. Loveland underwent shoulder surgery in January on an injury that he played through last season, but that procedure isn’t expected to impact his Week 1 availability. Read Past Outlooks
Goes 10th overall to Bears
TEChicago Bears
Shoulder
April 24, 2025
The Bears selected Loveland (shoulder) in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 10th overall.
ANALYSIS
Loveland becomes the first tight end off the board and the highest drafted tight end since the Falcons took Kyle Pitts fourth overall in 2021. The Michigan product is a nice fit in Chicago. He is a complete player at the position, with an ability to make plays in the passing game while also contributing in-line on blocking assignments. Loveland's stats aren't as gaudy as fellow first-round tight end prospect Tyler Warren's, but that's why context matters. Penn State made Warren the focal point of its passing attack, while Michigan did not have the passing game in place in 2024 to get much production out of Loveland, who finished his junior season with 56 catches for 582 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games. Cole Kmet is still on the roster, but the Bears using the 10th overall pick on Loveland is a sign that he is going to be involved early and often. Loveland can become a reliable option up the seam for Caleb Williams, though he'll have plenty of competition for targets with DJ Moore and Rome Odunze commanding huge shares. Lastly, Loveland's shoulder injury that kept him from testing at the combine is not expected to affect his availability for training camp.

Broncos ideal landing spot?
TEFree Agent
April 4, 2025
Loveland is seen by Chad Reuter of NFL.com as the ideal first-round pick for the Broncos in this year's NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Reuter notes he feels the Broncos should try to trade up for Penn State's Tyler Warren, but he sees Loveland as a fitting alternative that he labels as "no mere consolation prize." The Michigan product finished his three-year college career with 117 receptions for 1,466 yards and 11 touchdowns over 39 regular-season and postseason games, and Reuter envisions Loveland's quick feet and reliable hands making him a favorite of Bo Nix despite the presence of veteran Evan Engram.
