Tyler Warren

Tight EndTE
2025 Fantasy Outlook
The tight end learning curve in the NFL seems to be accelerating, given the recent standout rookie campaigns from Brock Bowers and Sam LaPorta. While not quite on Bowers' level as a prospect, Warren heads to the NFL backed by similar draft capital (14th overall) after catching 104 passes for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior at Penn State in 2024. He was a bit of a late bloomer, however, posting a 34-422-7 receiving line as a 21-year-old junior in 2023 after catching only 15 passes total in two prior seasons. Warren didn't go through pre-draft testing, but film shows that he moves well for someone whose measurements (6-foot-6 and 1/2, 256 pounds) are reminiscent of a blocking specialist more so than a receiving threat. The Nittany Lions even gave him trick plays and direct snaps last season, with 26 carries yielding 218 yards and four TDs. Warren thus profiles as a major after-the-catch threat, in addition to using his huge frame to threaten defenses downs the seams and in the end zone. His short-term outlooks is somewhat less promising in Indianapolis, where Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones are competing for the starting QB job for an offense that has two WRs, Michael Pittman and Josh Downs, capable of handling considerable target volume. The Colts selected Warren in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 14th overall.
ANALYSIS
Warren was a standout player at Penn State who didn't truly break out until his senior season. He had 49 catches for 606 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first three seasons and then exploded for 104 catches for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024. Penn State also got him involved in the run game in '24 with 26 rushes for 218 yards and four touchdowns en route to winning the Mackey Award. It's rare for a college tight end to command that type of share in the offense; he drew 31.6 percent of Penn State's targets. He had plenty of manufactured touches that won't translate in the NFL, but Warren is able to pull off just about any function that an NFL offense can conceive. He's 6-foot-6 and 256 pounds, which signals he can play all three downs. Fantasy managers may have some concerns about the immediate production with Indianapolis' current quarterback situation. It's not exactly apples to apples, but managers had similar concerns with Brock Bowers going to the Raiders last season.

The Athletic NFL Staff's Mock Draft 2.0 has Warren going to the Jets seventh overall.
ANALYSIS
One year after passing on Brock Bowers with the 11th pick, the Jets may find themselves reaching for an inferior tight end prospect with the seventh pick. While Warren isn't quite on Bowers' level as a prospect, the Penn State product could still be a quality contributor out of the gate in the NFL after racking up 104 catches for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns for the Nittany Lions in 2024.
